Semua daerah di Indonesia dapat mengusulkan kosakata untuk dimasukan dalam Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia. Salah satu contoh, kata keukeuh merupakan kata yang diambil dari bahasa Sunda. Kata tersebut tergolong kata baku yang diterapkan luas oleh masayarakat. Maluku pun bersemangat mengusulkan kosakata baru menjadi kata baku dalam
kamus besar bahasa indonesia.
"Maluku yang paling sering usulkan kata dibanding tempat lain," kata Nita Hasan, Koordinator Program Pengayaan Kosakata KBBI, Kantor Bahasa Maluku.
Ia mengatakan, kosakata Bahasa Indonesia banyak diberi pengaruh oleh kosakata bahasa tempat, masyarakat bisa mengusulkannya secara langsung melalui aplikasi yang kini sudah dioptimalkan. Semangat itulah yang mensupport pihaknya berprofesi ekstra serta melaksanakan pendataan ke tempat-tempat di Maluku. Di antaranya, Lisabata, Nuaulu, Waipia, Piru, dan Masohi. Ada pula dari Haruku, Saparua, dan Hitu. Kosakata yang didata kemudian diusulkan itu terkait dengan konsep, kosakata, kebiasaan, hingga adat.
Misalnya tersebut memungkinkan masyarakat dari daerah lain dapat belajar dan mengetahui keragaman bahasa dan makna dari suatu tempat. Padahal, kosakata pela gandong yang tergolong dalam konsep kehidupan di tempat Maluku.
"Pada tahun 2016, sebanyak 1.324 kosakata yang didata Kantor Bahasa Maluku. Dari jumlah itu, sebanyak 931 kosakata yang dikirim ke Badan Bahasa, diterima sebanyak 776. Kata yang diterima nantinya akan lewat pengerjaan editing lagi kemudian sidang untuk membahasnya," lanjut Nita.
Berdasarkan pada tahun 2107, terdapat 2.980 kosakata yang diusulkan oleh masyarakat melewati Kantor Bahasa Maluku. Sedangkan ia, kantor Bahasa Maluku selalu memberi penyuluhan terhadap masyarakat berhubungan usulan itu. Masyarakat diajak terlibat mendonasi kosakata ke Badan Bahasa melalui aplikasi yang mempermudah input data. Jadi, sempurna kosakata yang diusulkan menempuh 4.094 kosakata.
"Tahun ini targetnya 3000 usulan. Masyarakat yang berharap, juga dapat usulkan kata," terangnya.
Meski begitu, dari sekian banyak kata yang ditelah diusulkan, Nita belum menerima konfirmasi berhubungan kosakata mana saja yang disetujui. Pihaknya bakal berkoordinasi lagi untuk mendapatkan kepastian jumlah dan kosakata Maluku mana saja yang bertengger di dalam KBBI.
